Fraility

Illness is a part of life I think almost everyone would prefer to do without. Whether it is the back going out, the bug going around the office or the take out from the night before, illness can sabotage our daily plans turning it all upside down. It seems to strike out of the blue, knocking us off our feet and confining us to a much smaller territory than we are accustomed to.

Our body has let us down, and we don’t like it one bit.

For those who have recurring health issues it becomes part of the geography they navigate in, knowing at any point it can lay them low again. Knowing someone in that situation makes for appreciation of health like little else can. I think it was Eckhart Tolle who suggested the idea of shifting our mind away from our own feeling of pain or sickness by believing that it is allowing someone else an illness or pain-free day. When feeling miserable this is no easy task, yet it does give an outlet for the mind to explore. All in all I think everyone would choose health.
